Never forget who you are while teaching children who they are.

It has been a world wind week at work, teaching the children, educating the parents, and being a role model for my coworkers. In all the activities I have been doing in my classroom I forget to give Renee a little time to herself. I am saying to all educators take time for yourself in order to be a better teacher for our children.

Self Introduction

Hi my name is Renee and I am an early education teacher. I am a native of Mississippi, but I have lived in Indiana for 13 years. The reason I decided to work with young children, my experience as a Correctional Officer (Men’s Death row) at the Mississippi State Penitentiary. I stated to observe the inmate’s age was getting younger and younger. I said then that something needs to be done to keep our children out of the correctional institutions. Since my departure from Mississippi, I have made it a priority to be that positive role model.
What I find meaningful and rewarding to me is seeing children that I taught previous years say Mrs. Renee I still remember you and I like school. My aspirations for the future, is to be a better advocate outside of the classroom for young children.
The photo I included is from my junior high school class dance. The reason I included this photo is because it is the only one I could find of me at a young age. I compare the knowledge I have now to then, I knew nothing at all then.
